Olympic champion Zhang leads China's gymnastic team to Rio

Xinhua, May 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

Olympic champion Zhang Chenglong is going to lead China's gymnastic squad to compete at the Rio Olympic Games as the team announced the list on Monday.

Five-time Olympic medalist Zou Kai missed the squad as the team's selection board made their decision one day after the conclusion of the National Gymnastic Championships.

Zou, 28, was tangled by injuries on his Achille's heel and waist. In the opening day of the National Championships on Wednesday, he failed to nail on the floor exercise which is his speciality as he claimed two Olympic titles in this event.

The high bar expert Zhang Chenglong, member of the men's team that won the Olympic team event at London four years ago, is the only gymnast who has Olympic experience in the 16-member squad.
