China renews blue rain alert

Xinhua, May 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's national observatory has renewed a blue alert for rain in south China in the coming two days.

From Sunday to Monday, heavy rain is expected in southeastern coastal regions, including Fujian, Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) announced.

Parts of Guangxi, Hainan, Jiangxi, Tibet and Yunnan will also see torrential rain accompanied by thunder or hail.

The NMC suggested people in affected regions avoid outdoor activities and take precautions against landslides and mud flows.

China has a four-tier color-coded warning system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Endit
