Germany's benchmark DAX index closes down

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday went down and closed below 10,000 points.

Oil prices went up and down, which made investors nervous and the DAX index was under selling pressure, according to local analysts. The DAX index lost 70.12 points, or 0.7 percent.

Thyssenkrupp climbed by 3.12 percent. Deutsche Post rose by 2.23 percent. Vonovia, a real estate company, added 0.6 percent. Volkswagen and Deutsche Boerse both went up by 0.54 percent.

Two utilities companies suffered great losses. EON lost 5.58 percent and RWE 3.5 percent. ProSiebenSat1 Media slipped by 3.61 percent. HeidelbergCement plunged by 2.6 percent. Allianz went down by 2.01 percent.

EON was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 225.51 million euros (257.66 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
