The following are highlights of leading Nigerian media outlets on Wednesday.
-- The government has announced plans to establish cattle ranches across the country as part of the solution to the perennial clashes between farmers and herdsmen. (The Guardian)
-- After a few days of relief, fuel queues grew longer at some filling stations in Lagos and Ogun states on Tuesday, as speculations about an imminent increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit sparked panic buying. (The Punch)
-- The bloodbath in Rivers State continued, Tuesday, as five persons were killed in attacks by suspected cultists in different parts of the state. The state high court premises in Port Harcourt also came under attack.
The attack on the court led to a shutdown of the judicial system in the state. (Vanguard)
-- The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) on Tuesday said the military would employ all available means and measures within its rules of engagement to crush any individual or group that destroys government infrastructure.
A statement from defense spokesman, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar said the DHQ was not unaware of the emergence of a group in the Niger Delta region which has vowed to cripple economic activities through pipeline vandalism, oil theft and kidnap of expatriate workers in that region.
