Argentina, China work to increase agribusiness cooperation

Xinhua, May 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Argentina is working with China to increase commercial exchange in the agribusiness sector, said the agriculture ministry in a press release on Tuesday.

Argentine officials met with representatives from the China Animal Husbandry Group, one of the main Chinese companies in agribusiness, in efforts to promote Argentine products with high-added value, it said.

"One of the meeting's themes was to analyze how we are going to work together to provide for China's growing middle class," said Argentine Agriculture Minister Ricardo Negri.

They focused their talks on markets for beef, pet food and dairy products. This meeting took place one week after Negri visited China.

Negri participated in a food fair, Asia's largest food-related innovation exhibition where Argentine beef was promoted along with products from 65 countries.

"I feel pleasantly surprised to see the Argentinian government wants to support companies so that they can enter the Chinese market," said Cheng Hongxia, the China Animal Husbandry Group's managing director in foreign trade. Endi
