Two Ugandan athletes, Joshua Cheptegei and Peruth Chemutai, on Tuesday left for China to participate in the second stop of the IAAF Diamond League.

The event will take place in Shanghai on May 14.

"We are well focused on the event and hope to perform well," Cheptegei, who has also qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games, told Xinhua before departure.

Cheptegei will compete in the 5,000m race and Chemutai in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Dominic Otuchet, president of Uganda Athletics Federation, said it will be a good chance for Ugandan runners to get more international exposure in the IAAF Diamond League. Endit
