Growth of French economy in Q2 to slightly slow: central bank

Xinhua, May 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

France's central bank on Tuesday forecast the eurozone's second biggest economy to grow 0.3 percent in the second quarter, after 0.5 percent growth was recorded a quarter earlier.

France's industrial activity was strong in April, driven by transport equipment, with orders being reasonably robust, the bank said. Business leaders expected the sector to accelerate in the short term.

The bank said service activities slowed in April as a decline in the accommodation and food services and transport sectors offset growth in information and communication and consulting sectors.

The bank also expected stronger growth in services sector in May.

In its biannual projections, the bank predicted French economy to grow 1.8 percent this year and 1.9 percent in 2017. Endit
