Vietnam's auto sales see 42 pct growth in April: association

Vietnam sold a total of 25,725 automobiles in April 2016, up four percent against March and 42 percent year-on-year, said Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) on Tuesday.
Among the April figure, some 19,500 autos are domestically assembled, down 2.5 percent against March while as many as 6,225 units are completely built-ups (CBUs), up 29 percent over the previous month.
In the first four months this year, a total of 85,414 autos were consumed in Vietnam, up 28 percent year-on-year, with 66,121 domestically assembled cars and 19,293 CBUs.
During four-month period, sale of domestic assemble cars witnessed a year-on-year rise of 37 percent while that of CBUs went up slightly with four percent year-on-year, said VAMA.
VAMA statistics showed that in 2015, Vietnam consumed 244,914 autos, up 56 percent year-on-year, surpassing earlier target of some 180,000 units. Endit
