At least 2 confirmed dead as tornadoes touch down in Oklahoma

Xinhua, May 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least two people were killed and several others hurt as tornadoes hit near Oklahoma City, capital of the U.S. state of Oklahoma, and the rolling hills south of the city Monday afternoon.

According to the local daily The Oklahoman, one man died at his home in Garvin County, where hailstones as large as golf balls came pounding down. Another person died after being trapped in the rubble near Connerville.

Several people were injured, and major damages to a radio station and several buildings were reported in counties. Television images showed that houses were destroyed, several vehicles overturned and trees uprooted.

The National Weather Service earlier on Monday issued five tornado warnings, four of which have been confirmed. Endi
