An underearth quake measuring 6.1 Richter scale jolted Lampung province of Sumatra Island on Monday, the meteorology and geophysics agency said here.

"The center of the quake was underearth and its shakes were strongly felt by the communities," Dede Yunus, an official of the agency told Xinhua by phone.

NEW DELHI -- At least four people were killed and six others critically wounded in a crude bomb explosion in India's eastern state of West Bengal, officials said Monday.

The bomb accidentally went off Sunday night at a house in Maldah district, about 360 km north of Kolkata city, the capital of West Bengal.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan -- The shadow governor of Taliban for the southern Kandahar province and his deputy were killed in the restive province, Kandahar provincial police chief said on Monday.

"Taliban shadowy governor for Kandahar province Mawlawi Hayatullah nicknamed Hajji Lala and his deputy Mawlawi Ahmad Shah Humat are among 45 Taliban rebels who have been killed in clashes for the control of Kandahar-Uruzgan highway," Zia Durani told Xinhua.

SEOUL -- Reckitt Benckiser Korea, better known as its brand name Oxy, on Monday apologized to South Koreans for using toxic chemical in humidifier sterilizer for about 10 years in the midst of ongoing prosecution investigations into suspected concealment of fatality.

Ata Safdar, chief executive of the British firm Oxy's South Korean unit, told a press conference that he offers a heartfelt apology on behalf of Oxy Reckitt Benckiser and his company will make every effort to assure the victims have necessary support and fair compensation.
