The U.S. dollar traded in the mid-106 yen range early Monday morning in Tokyo, compared to the lower 106 yen zone logged in New York on Friday after Japan's central bank opted to hold off on further monetary easing.
At 9 a.m., the dollar changed hands between 106.46-48 yen compared with 106.40-50 yen in New York at 5 p.m. Friday.
The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1460-1461 dollars and 122.03-05 yen against 1.1450-1460 dollars and 121.79-89 yen in New York in late trade on Friday afternoon.
On Saturday, Japan's Finance Minister Taro Aso expressed concern about the yen's recent rise, stating that he believed it was due to "speculative" market moves.
Markets in Tokyo were closed on Friday for a national holiday. Enditem
