Brazil's Palmeiras sign Colombian starlet

Xinhua, May 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

Eight-time Brazilian Serie A champions Palmeiras have signed Colombian under-23 international center-back Yerry Mina, the club announced on Sunday.

The 21-year-old will join the Sao Paulo outfit from Bogota-based Independiente Santa Fe on a five-year contract at the end of May, according to a Palmeiras statement. No financial details were given.

Mina is the 11th new addition to Palmeiras' squad this year.

He impressed Santa Fe during this year's Copa Libertadores group phase, scoring three goals.

The 193cm Mina has been capped four times for Colombia's under-23 team and is expected to feature for the Cafeteros at the Olympic Games in August.

The Brazilian Serie A season begins on May 14. Endit
