Bahrain arrests 11 suspects over bomb attack

Bahraini interior ministry announced on Friday the arrest of 11 suspects over terror charges.

The ministry believes that these arrested were behind a petrol bomb attack, occurred earlier this month in a village north of capital Manama, which killed policeman Mohammed Tanweer and seriously injured two others.

The attackers hurled Molotov cocktails at the police who were securing the roads and protecting property in the village, according to official accounts of the strike.

In a statement, the ministry also noted that the suspects have confessed their crime, and were referred to the Public Prosecution, adding that the police is still hunting the other two suspects involved in similar terror attacks.

According to police source, a total of 17 policemen were killed in Bahrain and more than 2,300 injured since the outbreak of anti-government protests in 2011.

Those numbers have increased over the years with clashes between anti-government groups and police.

Earlier this month, the Bahrain Defense Force in a statement said it is ready to confront terrorist groups that attack security forces, and "they will all be brought to justice and the laws will be fully applied." Endit
