Ghana's electoral body to register 1.2 mln new voters

Xinhua, April 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ghana's electoral commission on Thursday started a registration exercise targeting 1.2 million new voters ahead of this year's general elections.

Some 3,500 polling centers have been opened for the 10-day nationwide exercise to allow Ghanaians aged 18 and above and first time voters to register.

The electoral commission had earlier cautioned the public against double registration, saying their computer system is capable of detecting that.

The registration will end on May 8. The election is due to be held in November. Endit
