China always supports ASEAN's community building and integration process, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin said here on Thursday.

At a the press conference of the 22nd China-ASEAN Senior Officials' Consultation, Liu said that participants of the meeting applauded the progress made by China and ASEAN in enhancing their relations over the past 25 years, agreeing that the partnership between China and ASEAN have become the most dynamic and strongest one among ASEAN's partners.

Liu added that communications between China and ASEAN in various areas have brought fruitful results, and made contributions to peace and stability in the region.

ASEAN countries applauded China's vision of innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development made out in the 13th Five-Year Plan, he said.

"They believed that China's peaceful development and sustainable economic growth will be an important opportunity for the region. ASEAN countries look forward to benefiting from China's development and the Belt and Road Initiative."

Chee Wee Kiong, permanent secretary of Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said this is the first meeting organized by Singapore since the city state has become the coordinator for China-ASEAN relations.

"The 25th anniversary is a timely juncture to review ASEAN-China strategic partnership, to discuss ways to strengthen this partnership, including through effective implementation of the ASEAN-China Plans of Action for 2016 and 2020," said Chee.

The 22nd China-ASEAN Senior Officials' Consultation, held in Singapore from Wednesday to Thursday, is an important annual gathering for senior diplomats from China and 10 ASEAN countries to exchange views on advancing China-ASEAN relations and regional cooperation in East Asia as well as preparing for a commemorative summit on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN dialogue relations in September.
