Spain's consumer prices fall by 1.1 pct in April

Xinhua, April 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Spain's consumer prices fell by 1.1 percent in April year-on-year, according to advanced data of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published on Thursday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).

It was a bigger drop than March, when consumer prices fell by 0.8 percent from the same period last year. According to the INE, prices fell because of lower prices of organized trips and electricity.

Spanish prices have been falling for four consecutive months year-on-year after falling by 0.3 percent in January and by 0.8 percent in February and March.

On the other hand, Spain's prices rose by 0.7 percent on a month-to-month basis.

The INE will publish a more detailed evolution of prices on May 13, when it will confirm the CPI data. Endit
