Czech Republic takes over first 4 Syrian refugees based on EU quotas

The Czech Republic took over the first four Syrian refugees in accordance with the EU quotas.

They are a family of four that arrived in the Czech Republic on Monday and is now waiting for asylum, reported local media.

According to a regular report on migration of the Interior Ministry, the Czech Republic decided to take over the first seven Syrian refugees from Greece based on the EU redistribution quotas. However, three of them have left the facility in Greece to avoid the resettlement in the Czech Republic.

Czech Refugee Facilities Administration spokesman Kiril Hristov said that the Czech Republic accepted the first four refugees. It is a family of Syrians, they are in a reception center in Czech and passing the standard admission procedures.

The Czech Republic is obliged to accept 2,691 refugees staying in the Mediterranean countries.

In February, the Czech Republic offered to accept the first 20 refugees from Greece and 10 from Italy in accordance with the EU quotas. Endit
