Slovak soldiers finished best in international cyberspace defence exercise

The team of the Slovak Armed Forces claimed the top position at the international exercise Locked Shields 2016 focusing on cyberspace defence, the Slovak Defence Ministry on Wednesday.

"The fact that members of the Slovak Armed Forces were assessed as the best resisting team in this exercise, proves that we pay a great deal of attention to operations in cyberspace," said Slovak Defence Minister Peter Gajdos.

The official added, "It's a real success that we stood up to such strong international competition. This only confirms the good reputation of our soldiers."

The exercise, organised annually by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, focused on training security experts who protect national IT systems on a daily basis. Teams of experts had to turn aside thousands of attacks during the exercise.

Over 550 professionals were involved in this years's Locked Shields 2016. Endit
