The number of vehicles manufactured rose by 7.63 percent in the first quarter of the year when compared with the same period of a year earlier to 768,859 unities, the Association of Car Manufacturers (ANFAC) reported on Monday.

"The sector has manufactured more than 12,600 vehicles a day in the first quarter," ANFAC said, adding that it was "an intense rhythm, that can also be improved" and highlighting that Spain's domestic market rose by 7 percent.

In March alone, 270,985 vehicles were manufactured, which meant a 7.7 percent rise in comparison with March, 2015.

Regarding exports, they rose by 9.12 percent in the first quarter year-on-year to a total of 630,799, which represented 82.4 percent of the total production.

In March alone, 223,834 vehicles were shipped to other countries, which meant a 9.35 percent increase when compared with the same month of a year earlier.

Spain manufactured 2,733,201 vehicles in 2015, a 13.7 percent rise compared with 2014. Spain had not reached this figure since the crisis began, when in 2007 a total of 2.9 million vehicles were manufactured.

For 2016, ANFAC expects to produce 2.8 million vehicles. Endit
