China maintains blue alert for rainstorms

Xinhua, April 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's weather authority on Saturday night maintained a blue alert over the next 24 hours, as rainstorms will continue in the country's southern regions.

Torrential rain will lash parts of Fujian, Guangdong, Yunnan and Guangxi from Saturday night through Sunday, with precipitation expected to reach up to 110 millimeters, the National Meteorological Center said in a statement on its website.

Some of these areas will also see thunderstorms, strong wind or hail, according to the statement.

The center suggested that people living in the affected areas should avoid outdoor activities and take precautions against possible landslides and mud-rock flows.

China has a four-tier color-coded warning system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Endi
