Soldier shots seven dead in western Uganda

A soldier in western Uganda has shot seven people dead and injured two others after a quarrel at Kaburamizi army barracks in Kanungu district.

Fred Enanga, the police spokesman said in a statement on Friday that the deadly incident occurred on Thursday night after Corporal Moses Kyatoko first shot dead two soldiers.

Kyatoko later ran out of the barracks to Nkumbagara trading center where he shot dead five other people and injured two others.

It is not immediately known why Kyatoko shot them. An investigation is underway.

Enanga said the dead bodies have been transferred to Kambuga hospital for postmortem.

He said the military has started investigation into the tragic incident and will take the suspect before the military court martial. Endit
