Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan said on Tuesday that the CPC is ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Tanzania's ruling party-Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, also CCM's chairman.
Liu said bilateral friendship was shaped by the older generation of leaders of the two countries and has a solid foundation.
In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping and then Tanzanian President Kikwete agreed to upgrade bilateral relations to comprehensive cooperative partnership characterized by mutual benefit and win-win results, said Liu.
In developing relations with Africa, China adheres to the principles of sincerity, practical results, affinity and good faith, said Liu, noting that China is willing to deepen pragmatic cooperation with Tanzania, so as to achieve common development.
Liu underscored the importance of party-building, saying the CPC is ready to strengthen experience sharing with the CCM on state governance, so as to jointly promote the healthy and sustained development of bilateral relations.
Kikwete extended Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli's greetings and high respects to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the CPC, the Chinese government and people.
He said bilateral friendship has brought benefit to the Tanzanian people.
Tanzania's new government adheres to the friendly policy towards China, and the CCM values its friendship with the CPC, he said, adding that Tanzania is willing to work with China to upgrade the relations between the two countries as well as the two parties. Endi
