China and the Netherlands will join efforts to boost law enforcement and security cooperation, a visiting top Chinese official told Xinhua.
Visiting State Councilor Guo Shengkun reaffirmed that law enforcement and security are an important field of bilateral cooperation during a meeting with Dutch Minister of Security and Justice Ard van der Steur last Friday.
Guo expressed the hope that both parts could continuously achieve new fruits in fighting cross-border crimes, terrorism and narcotics.
Both countries should respect and accommodate each other's concerns on the basis of mutual understanding, equality and mutual benefit, said Guo. He also suggested more personnel exchanges and visits as well as improving channels of exchange and cooperation.
With economic, trade and personnel exchanges on the rise, both China and the Netherlands should further facilitate the interflow of personnel and take effective measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the other country's residing nationals and organizations, Guo said.
For his part, van der Steur said the Dutch authorities attach great importance to law enforcement and security cooperation with China. The Netherlands is willing to boost closer communication and cooperation with China, he said. Endi
