36 killed, 316 injured during Myanmar's water festival

A total of 36 people have been killed and 316 people injured during Myanmar's Thingyan water festival, official media reported on Monday.

Over the five day period of water festival, the total number of accidental cases reached 46 while pickpocketing cases topped the list of crimes with 64 cases.

The 46 accidents resulted in 14 deaths and 235 injuries, while other cases registered 17 deaths. Moreover, there were three reported murders during the water festival, according to the Myanmar Police Force.

The Yangon Police Force expressed thanks to the public for their cooperation as Yangon Region has seen a decrease in the number of cases related to the festival since last year. Enditem
