Vietnam grabs second gymnastics Olympic berth

Xinhua, April 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Phan Thi Ha Thanh has become the second Vietnamese gymnast to have gained a slot at the approaching Rio Olympics, the Vietnam Olympic Committee announced Monday.

At a pre-Olympic gymnastics tournament in Brazil, despite her knee injury, Thanh managed to reach the Olympic standard at the women's all-round event, including vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise, on Monday.

On Sunday, also at the tournament, her compatriot Pham Phuoc Hung secured the first gymnastics Olympic berth for Vietnam.

Vietnam has so far won 14 berths to the 2016 Olympics, including three in weightlifting, two in shooting, one in swimming, two in wrestling, one in race walking, three in fencing and two in gymnastics. Endit
