Jiangsu Suning beat Shanghai Greenland 2-0 to lead Chinese Super League

Xinhua, April 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ren Hang's two headers in six minutes helped Jiangsu Suning beat Shanghai Greenland 2-0 in the fifth round to lead Chinese Super League (CSL) on Saturday.

Both teams got no luck in the first half of this eye-catching match. Jiangsu's effort was rewarded when Li Ang's free kick was headed into the net by captain Ren Hang in the 84th.

Li Zhichao substituted Ramires in the 90th minute, before his first touch of the ball turned out to be a fabulous long-distance assist to Ren Hang, whose header sealed the victory for the hosts.

"I'm happy to help the team to win, but it's everyone's effort. Coach Petrescu asked us to pay more attention to details, and it paid off," Ren Hang said.

Jiangsu Suning surpassed defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande to top CSL after the victory.

In the other match on Saturday, Liaoning Whowin tied the visiting Tianjin Teda at 2-2. After both teams scored their first goal on respective penalty, Senegalese Ibrahim Toure's header in stoppage time earned Liaoning a 2-1 lead after the first half.

Tianjin's veteran Cao Yang finished the equalizer in the 70th minute. After the tie, Liaoning has to accept an embarrassing run of four matches without a win.

Three other matches of the fifth round will be held on Sunday. Endit
