Slovenia sent off to Greece on Friday its first shipment of material aid for refugees, which is part of 80 tonnes of material aid with worth of 1.05 million euros (1.20 million U.S. dollars).

When seeing the shipment off at Ljubljana, Greek Ambassador to Slovenia Nikolas Protonotarios said that his nation valued Slovenia's support "greatly" , the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported.

Slovenia is sending to Greece beds, blankets, first aid tents, tent heaters, sleeping mats, rain coats, rubber boots, baby nappies and tents. The contributions go to Greece via the EU civil protection mechanism to deal with the refugee crisis.

The STA report said that Darko But, the chief of Slovenia's Civil Protection and Disaster Relief Administration, his institute was following closely the requests coming through the EU civil protection mechanism, deciding about dispatching aid accordingly. Endit
