Bulgaria's population drops by 0.7 pct in 2015: report

The Bulgarian population dropped by 0.7 percent year-on-year in 2015 to 7.15 million, according to a report released by the country's National Statistical Institute (NSI) here on Friday.

The process of population aging continued, and by the end of 2015 the number of persons aged 65 and over increased by 0.4 percent to 1.46 million persons, the report said.

Meanwhile, the number of population at working age decreased 1.2 percent to 4.34 million.

The number of deaths in 2015 was 110,117, increasing by 1.1 percent year-on-year.

According to data from NSI, Bulgaria's population has dropped by 995,684 persons over the past 15 years. Enditem
