Xinhua, April 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

Colombia' s national roller skating team travelled to Germany on Wednesday to participate in the Euro Cup which will be held in the German cities of Geisenger and Gross Gerau, in the second half of April, local media reported.

According to local website RCN, the first competition will be held from April 15 to 17 at Geisenger, while the second one will be held from April 22 to 24. The tournaments are organized by the European Confederation of Roller Skating (CERS)

Last weekend, the Colombian team won a ticket to participate in the European tournaments during a qualifying competition held in Bogota.

Saul Fernando Herreno and Steven Villegas are two skaters who will participate for the first time in Colombia' s national team, thanks to their good performances in the national qualifying competition.

The team also includes Daniela Lindarte, Hellen Andrea Montoya, Kerstinck Sarmiento, Andres Jimenez (world champion) and Juan Sebastian Sanz, who participated last year in the same European tournaments.

In the 2015 edition, Colombian skaters won 42 medals, 19 of them were gold, 14 silver and nine bronze.

For Colombian skaters, these tournaments will be part of the training season ahead of the World Championship to be held in Nanjing, China, next September.

Colombia has become an international power in roller skating. Last November in China, the Colombian squad won three gold medals with Jenny Pajaro, Alvaro Carrasquilla and Andres Jimenez, as well as a bronze medal from Andrea Canon. Endit
