New contingent of Azerbaijani peacekeepers leaves for Afghanistan

A new contingent of Azerbaijani peacekeepers left here for Afghanistan on Tuesday, Azerbaijan's Defense ministry said in a statement.

The 42-member contingent, including 38 servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, two military doctors and two sappers, will be deployed in Afghanistan as part of the NATO non-combat Resolute Support Mission (RSM) on a rotating basis, said the statement.

Azerbaijan's peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan currently involves 90 servicemen, two military doctors and two sappers. The country has been present in Afghanistan since November 2002. Endi
