Xinhua, April 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least 12 people were killed and more than 20 others wounded after a suicide bomber targeted a police academy vehicle in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nangarhar on Monday, an official said.

"The explosion took place at around 3:30 p.m. local time. The incident occurred in Sorkhroad Square of provincial capital Jalalabad city. And the number of casualties may increase," a provincial government spokesman told Xinhua.

Police academy students aboard the vehicle and passersby were affected by the blast, spokesman Attaullah Khoagyani said.

The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals and the area is cordoned off by the security forces, he said.

No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack so far. Enditem
