Final results of Pruvian presidential poll expected on Monday

Xinhua, April 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

The final results of Sunday's presidential election in Peru will be revealed on Monday, said Mariano Cucho, head of the National Office for Electoral Processes.

"All the ballot boxes will have arrived then, and we will have processed them all by Monday," Cucho told Radioprogramas del Peru on Saturday.

He explained that due to time differences, his office will receive all the ballots from Peruvians living abroad on early Monday.

Preliminary results will be out at 9 p.m. local time Sunday (0200 GMT Monday), after over 30 percent of votes being counted, said Cucho.

Around 23 million Peruvians, including those living abroad, are eligible to vote for the country's new president, vice president and 130 congressmen.

If no presidential candidate secures majority in the first round, a run-off will be held in June. Endi
