Two Montenegrins heavily sentenced for drug smuggling in Finland

The Ostrobothnia District Court of Finland on Friday sentenced two Montenegrin citizens to 10 years in prison for aggravated drug offences, local media reported.
The two drug smugglers have been convicted of smuggling exceptionally large amount of drugs from Central Europe to Finland, said Finnish national broadcaster Yle.
Last November, when inspecting a truck on a ferry arriving at the Port of Vaasa, western Finland, customs officers seized 104 kg of amphetamine and 3 kg of cocaine in a cache under the floor panels of the truck trailer.
The truck carrying the narcotics, which are classified as extremely dangerous, travelled from the Netherlands to Finland via Germany, Denmark and Sweden.
The customs said that the street value of the amphetamine would be equivalent to 13.6 million euros(15.50 million U.S. dollars) and the cocaine would be worth 700,000 euros.
Earlier in January, Hannu Sinkkonen, director of Intelligence and Investigation Unit at the Western Customs District of Finland, told Finnish News Agency STT that this was certainly the largest single seizure of drugs in the Finnish criminal history.
The two men both received 10 years of imprisonment.
According to the court, 10 years in jail is the maximum penalty for drug offences currently in Finland. Enditem
