Political advisors urge tighter supervision over construction quality
Xinhua, April 8, 2016 Adjust font size:
China's national political advisors on Thursday urged the government to strengthen supervision over the quality of construction projects.
They made the suggestions at a regular bi-weekly seminar held by the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, the country's top political advisory body, which focused on problems in construction quality.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the seminar.
Members of the CPPCC National Committee said at the seminar that although recent years have seen construction quality in China improved with enhanced legislation and regulation enforcement, problems still exist in the sector, including incomplete laws and regulations, incompetent supervision mechanism and a disorderly market.
They suggested the government supervision over the market be strengthened, with more clarified government responsibility and powers.
The political advisors also called for regulating the labor service companies, building a relatively stable construction labor force and strengthening training for them.
They suggested that a credit system be built to evaluate companies' credibility and punish violators.
Law on Tenders and Bids should also be revised, they said. Endi
