The following are news highlights in major Nigerian media outlets on Thursday.

-- The National Assembly has finally completed work on details of the 2016 budget and is expected to present it to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday. (Daily Trust)

-- Amid efforts by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and independent marketers to ensure the supply of Premium Motor Spirit in the country, fares have increased by over 200 percent in major cities in the country. (The Guardian)

-- Operators in the electricity value chain, generation, transmission and distribution companies, are trading blames over the current power crisis, with each blaming the other for the very poor power supply situation witnessed in the last few weeks. (The Vanguard)

-- A prosecution witness, Michael Wetkas, said on Wednesday that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, collected salary as the governor of Kwara State for about four years after completing his second term in 2011.

Wetkas said this while continuing his testimony, which he opened on Tuesday in the ongoing trial of Saraki, who is being prosecuted on 13 counts of false and anticipatory asset declaration before the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja. (The Punch) Endit
