A consultative meeting of the Libyan Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) was concluded here on Wednesday evening by reaching a consensus on the new Libyan constitution.

Oman hosted the meeting, which lasted over three weeks to reach a final consensus of the draft constitution that meets the aspirations of all Libyans.

In a statement made in the closing session, Al Jilani Abdul Salam al-Jamal, CDA's acting chairman, said the consensus was reached without any pressures.

Qasem bin Mohammed Al Salhi, Oman's ambassador to Libya, delivered a speech expressing the joy for Oman to declare the Libyan draft constitution.

He added that the consensus is a model for how to solve differences among parties.

Mohammed Al Ghannam, Constitution Advisor at United Nations Support Mission in Libya, hailed the efforts made by the CDA to map out a constitution that meets most Libyans' interests.

Altogether 32 of CDA's 55 members attended the meeting.

Earlier, some of the members expressed their rejection to moving the CDA's sessions to Oman, saying that it would be inappropriate to work outside Libya. Endit
