British FTSE 100 rises 1.16 pct on Wednesday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Wednesday rose by 1.16 percent, or 70.40 points, to 6,161.63 points.

Share price of Shire increased by 5.16 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. AstraZeneca, Prudential, Next and GlaxoSmithKline increased by 4.47 percent, 3.35 percent, 3.05 percent and 3 percent, respectively.

EasyJet led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.02 percent, following by International Consolidated Airlines Group (2.55 percent), Glencore (1.23 percent), Whitbread (0.94 percent) and Royal Bank of Scotland Group (0.76 percent). Endit
