A Turkish soldier was killed in an attack by Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the country's southeastern province of Diyarbakir on Wednesday, Turkish security sources told Anadolu Agency.

The soldier was struck by PKK militants while he was driving in the Bismil district of Diyarbakir.

Meanwhile, a soldier was killed and another one injured after their tank fell off a cliff while maneuvering in the southeastern province of Sirnak's Uludere district on Tuesday, Turkish General Staff said on Wednesday.

About 14 PKK militants were killed in anti-terror operations by security forces in the southeastern provinces of Sirnak, Mardin and Hakkari on Tuesday, the General Staff said in another statement on the same day.

More than 300 members of Turkish security forces and thousands of PKK members have been killed since last July in confrontations inside Turkey and in northern Iraq where the PKK hold their bases.

The PKK, which is accused by Ankara of waging a separatist war since 1984, is listed as terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. Endit
