Indonesia joins efforts to deport football chief from Singapore

Xinhua, April 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indonesian foreign ministry on Monday said it will assist the deportation of chairman of the country's football association, who has been named a suspect in a graft case, from Singapore.

Despite of having no extradition treaty with Singapore, Indonesia could coordinate with the government of Singapore on the deportation of graft suspect La Nyala Mattalittia, spokesman of Indonesian Foreign Ministry Arrmanatha Nasir told reporters in Jakarta.

La Nyala was named a suspect by the East Java Prosecutors Office on March 17 for allegedly misappropriating billions of rupiah funds in 2012, and he was also declared a fugitive as he fled the country on the day.

The chairman escaped to Malaysia before entering Singapore, according to the attorney general office. Endi
