Cuba, U.S. discuss health cooperation

Xinhua, April 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Experts from Cuba and the United States discussed health cooperation in Washington this week, the Cuban Foreign Ministry said Saturday.

Cooperation between the two sides will range from research on and prevention and treatment of communicable diseases such as Zika, dengue and chikungunya, to chronic illnesses like cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure, the ministry said in a press release.

The health experts also identified other topics of interest in future cooperation, including medical research, aging, mental health and primary care.

The health talks followed a historic visit of U.S. President Barack Obama to Cuba last month. Endi
