Burkina Faso's new president Roch Marc Christian Kabore will conduct, from April 5 to 7, his first state visit to Paris at the invitation of his French counterpart François Hollande, French diplomatic source on Friday said in Ouagadougou.
According to a release from the French embassy in the West African country, the visit will mainly focus on three axes.
These are security cooperation, economic cooperation and the meeting with Burkina Faso nationals living in France.
"Terrorist attacks in the West Africa, especially that of January in Ouagadougou, have confirmed the importance of a strategic cooperation between the two countries," the release said.
It added that by its central geographic location, Burkina Faso has the potential to play a major role in the security of the region.
Roch Marc Christian Kabore won November 2015 presidential election in obtaining 53.63 percent of total votes cast, after a year transition following the resignation amid insurrection, in October 2014, of the then president Blaise Compoare.
The disclosed agenda of his State visit shows a summit meeting on April 5 with President Francois Hollande to review the state of France and Burkina Faso bilateral cooperation in security, education and drinking water access issues.
The two head of States will then sign a 30 million Euro loan facility agreement, the same source said.
French private investment in Burkina Faso totalled 109 million euros, according to the diplomatic source. Endit
