Slovakia relegated after loss to Norway in ice hockey worlds

Slovakia was relegated from the IIHF ice hockey women's World Championship DIV I Group A with a 4-3 defeat by Norway in Aalborg, Denmark on Thursday.

Slovakia got ahead when Livia Lucova scored the first goal of the game after 10:55 minutes. The Norwegians fought back hard in the second period and levelled the score in the 28:34 minutes.

They went on to score another goal at 32:07, but Slovakia even up the game at 36:20, when Lucova scored her second goal of the game.

The score was tied at 3-3 after the third period, and it was Norway's Linn Aakre who slapped home the winning in overtime.

Meanwhile, Germany have secured the gold medal and earned promotion back to the top division for the 2017 World Championship in Plymouth with the victory against France on Wednesday.

The tournament, now on its 18th edition, takes place at the Gigantium Ice Arena from March 25 to 31. Endit
