Xinhua, March 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

A policeman was killed and another injured when a car exploded at a checkpoint in southern Russia's Dagestan, the TASS news agency said Wednesday.

The policeman was trying to stop a car in order to check it, but it drove past and exploded, TASS reported, citing an unnamed source in a regional law enforcement agency.

The incident came hours after a policemen was killed and two others injured when two police vehicles were destroyed by two unidentified roadside explosive devices near Dagestan's city of Kaspiysk late Tuesday.

The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the earlier attack through its affiliated Amaq news agency, and the regional authorities have launched investigations into the two cases, which occurred some 100 km apart. Endi
