Atlanta asks NBA to move All-Star Game from Charlotte

Atlanta has asked the NBA on Tuesday to consider moving the 2017 All-Star Game away from Charlotte, North Carolina to Atlanta after the state's lawmakers passed legislation viewed as limiting protections for LGBT people.

Atlanta City Council President Caesar Mitchell said his city has a welcoming spirit as he urged the NBA to move the game after North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory signed a law critics called discriminatory against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a statement that the league is hopeful Charlotte and North Carolina can work through their differences long before the game. Enditem
