Macedonian TAV Airport on Tuesday announced low-cost airline Wizz Air flights from Skopje to Berlin, Bratislava and Copenhagen, twice a week, local media reported.
Macedonian Minister of Transport and Communications Vlado Misajlovski said the government and Wizz Air agreed on the training of Macedonian pilots and their employment in the company.
"Costs of the training and obtaining the license are provided by the company. Four Macedonian pilots are currently attending the training program," said Misajlovski.
Wizz Air chief flight operations officer David Morgan said the pilots would be employed alongside the other 75 Macedonian employees at different job positions.
Zoran Krstevski, director of Skopje and Ohrid airports' concessionaire TAV Macedonia, underlined that the three new destinations increase the number of direct flights from Skopje to European capitals to 14.
In the meantime, Slovak Ambassador to Macedonia Martin Bezak said the Skopje-Bratislava flight was the first in the 22-year history of bilateral ties.
"The flight will reduce the travel time between the two countries to 1.5 hours. I believe the current tourism exchange of several thousand people between Slovakia and Macedonia will soon increase to 10,000 tourists, businessmen, students and young people," said Bezak. Enditem
