American director Woody Allen's latest film Cafe Society is selected to open the 69th International Film Festival of Cannes on May 11, the organizers of the festival announced Tuesday in a press release.

Having already opened the festival twice, Hollywood Ending in 2002 and Midnight in Paris in 2011, Woody Allen's Cafe Society will be screened as the opening film of this year's festival. It is also selected for the Out of Competition selection.

The film, starring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg, tells the story of a young man who arrives in Hollywood during the 1930s hoping to work in the film industry, falls in love, and finds himself swept up in the vibrant cafe society that defined the spirit of the age.

According to the organizers, this will be the fourteenth Out of Competition selection at Cannes for the American director, screenwriter, actor, writer and comedian.

The Official Selection titles will be announced on April 14, the organizers said in the press release.

The 69th International Film of Cannes will open on May 11 this year. The Competition Jury will be presided over by Australian director George Miller. Enditem
