Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook recorded his seventh triple-double of the month and 16th of the season in the team's 119-100 victory over Toronto Raptors in Monday night's NBA game.
Westbrook's 26 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds along with teammate Kevin Durant's game-high 34 points helped the team improve to 52-22 on the season and extend their season-best win streak to eight games.
"I think it's great to see our guys put work in and it's great to see them get rewarded," said Thunder head coach Billy Donovan following the win in Toronto.
"There were sometimes early, after the All-Star break I felt we were moving in the right direction, it's just we didn't get some of the results we wanted and sometimes that can be disappointing."
Donovan's team struggled out of the gate following the All-Star game, recording a 4-8 record in the first 12 games. The team averaged 106.9 points a game while allowing opponents to score 108.3 points.
In the last eight games, the team has clicked on both ends, scoring an average of 117.3 points per game while holding opponents to 100.2 points a game.
During the winning streak, Westbrook has recorded five triple-doubles and is averaging 20.8 points 9.6 rebounds and 11.1 assists a game.
The five-time All-Star's seven triple-doubles in March ties him with Michael Jordan's April 1989 performances for most triple-doubles in a month.
Westbrook's 16 triple-doubles is the most in the last 27 years. He is one away from tying Magic Johnson's 17 triple-doubles from the 1988-89 season. Enditem
