Dunga: Each generation is different

Xinhua, March 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Brazil coach Dunga on Monday defended Selecao captain Neymar after the forward was spotted partying a day after the team's 2-2 draw with Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier.

Neymar drew criticism in Brazil after photographs were posted on social media on Saturday showing the 24-year-old at a night club in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.

The Barcelona forward was earlier released from Brazil's squad after collecting a second yellow card of the qualifying campaign against Uruguay on Friday, ruling him out of Tuesday's clash with Paraguay in Acuncion.

"We have to respect individuals. Each generation is different," said Dunga, who captained Brazil to victory at the 1994 World Cup in the USA. "These days there is social media and everybody is exposed. Whatever a player does, two seconds later the whole world knows about it.

"I can't expect the players to behave the same way I did. Everybody is different. What is important is that on the pitch players do the best they can to achieve results."

Neymar flew back to Spain in a private jet on Monday ahead of Saturday's clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Brazil are currently third in the South American zone World Cup qualifying standings with eight points from five matches, ahead of Paraguay on goal difference. Endit
