A senior Iranian official on Monday hailed the recent liberation of ancient Palmyra city by the Syrian army.

Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, made the remarks in a congratulatory message to Syria's President Bashar al-Assad, according to Press TV.
