Ridden by jockey Damian Browne, Buffering won the 1,000m Al Quoz sprint of the 21st edition of the Dubai World Cup, the world's richest equestrian horse race, here on Saturday.

Trained by leading Brisbane handler Robert Heathcote, the eight year old thoroughbred Buffering scored a 56.21 seconds finishing time, leaving Irish rivals Ertijaal (from the host country United Arab Emirates) and Peniaphobia (Ireland) on places two and three, respectively. Browne, once called by sports media "one of the most underrated jockeys in Australia", said, "Buffering has the endurance and also the courage to score high at spring races."

Buffering's breeder staple Racetree accepted the winner's cup 600,000 U.S. dollars. Enditem
